CLP Junior Workshop for Area Youth
Cresson Lake Playhouse is pleased to offer a new youth theatre experience for children and teens called “CLP Junior: Break Away from Your Comfort Zone”. The workshop will focus on all performing aspects of a theatre program: acting, singing, dancing and performance readiness skills. Professional teaching artists will work with the participants in each session to help them gain confidence in their performing skills and to understand the workings of the theatre process. Participants will then be guaranteed a spot in the cast of CLP’s youth theatre production, Dr. Dolittle, Jr. which will be presented to schools May 2 – May 5 at the barn theatre and to the public May 5 – 8 in the same location.
The workshop will be held on Saturdays: January 30, February 6, 20, and 27, 2016. The morning workshop will run from 10 am to 12 pm and will include grades 3-7. The afternoon workshop will run from 1 pm to 3 pm and will include grades 8-12. Both workshop sessions will be held at the Cresson Lake Playhouse Rehearsal Hall at 427 South Center Street in Ebensburg. Cost of the workshop will be $75 per student if reservations are made on or before January 8, 2016. After January 8, the workshop fee will increase to $85.
Participants who then take their guaranteed spot in Dr. Dolittle, Jr. will still participate in auditions so they have the opportunity to be considered for a role. Auditions will be held Sunday, February 28 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm and Monday, February 29 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm for grades 3-7 and Sunday February 28 from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm and Monday, February 29 from 7:30 – 9:00 pm for grades 8-12. The participation fee to perform in Dr. Dolittle, Jr. will be reduced for attendees of the CLP Junior workshop to $25. All other participants will pay a participation fee of $50.
Class sizes are limited so reserve your spot early. Call Cresson Lake Playhouse at 814-473-4333 to make your reservation or to learn more. Gift certificates are available to give the workshop as a Christmas or birthday gift.
