Summer Musical Theatre Workshops
June 12th through June 23rd, 2006
The Broadway Performer
Cresson Lake Playhouse is offering a two-week course for young adult performers ages 6 and older, designed to build upon young aspiring actors' performance and auditioning skills through master class settings (open forum performances with critique of peers and instructor), class instruction, and group performance. Areas of instruction will include: Acting (song, monologue, and scene interpretation), Singing (vocal functioning/technique and vocal health), and Auditioning technique and etiquette. Each student will be given the opportunity to perform several times during the class. The workshop will conclude with a final collaborative "Broadway Performers' Showcase" to be held on the last day of the workshop. This performance will consist of solos, duets, monologues, short scenes and a group vocal performance piece.
Classes will run Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The classes will be held at the Cresson Lake Playhouse in the Rehearsal Hall, 526 West Ogle Street, Ebensburg, Pa 15931. The final day of the workshop will be held at CLP’s Historic Theatre located in Cresson, Pa.
About the Instructor
Rob Decker holds a BFA in Music Theatre from the New School University and is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. He also appeared in the Off Broadway production of Sacrifice to Eros and The Shocking Truth. His professional credits also include La Cage aux folles and The Mikado and touring with the U.S. with American Family Theatre's Babes in Toyland and The Wizard of OZ. Rob's recent performances include the roles of Brad in Rocky Horror Show, and Mickey in Blood Brothers with ACT. Rob has also served as a choreographer for ACT and Mount Aloysius, director and music director at CLP, and music director at Bishop Carroll.
Workshop Tuition
$150.00 per student. (Tuition includes all necessary supplies needed for the workshop **minus individual sheet music desired by the students that is not in CLP’s library** and a certificate of completion.) Students are recommended to pack a light snack for a short break.
