Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about our unique theater and seating.

What makes the Cresson Lake Playhouse seating unique?

Our historic barn theater, built before the Civil War, features a traverse (or "alley") stage, meaning the audience is seated on both sides of the stage rather than in front of it. This creates an intimate theatrical experience, bringing you closer to the action than in a traditional theater.

What do the colored seats on the seating chart mean?

  • Green seats are our Premium Seats, offering some of the best views in the theater.

  • Red seats are located directly beside one of the theater's original structural support poles.

  • Blue seats are near a support pole and may have a slightly limited view.

Because of these potential obstructions, both red and blue seats are offered at a reduced price. While a support pole may block a small portion of the stage—such as a far corner—you will still have a clear view of the performance and be able to enjoy the show.

  • The gray dots on the seating chart represent seats that have been sold.

Are there accessible seating options?

Yes! All Row A seats are located on floor level, making them easily accessible for guests using wheelchairs, walkers, or those who prefer to avoid steps. Seat A13 is best for those who choose to remain in their wheelchair during the performance. This seat is locked on the ticketing platform. Please call our office to reserve! Yes. Our theater is both air-conditioned and heated to provide a comfortable experience throughout the season. During the summer, the theater may feel a bit cool, as we keep the temperature lower to ensure the comfort of our performers under the stage lighting.

Is the theater air-conditioned?

Do you have a concession stand?

Yes! Our concession stand is open before each performance and during intermission. We offer a variety of sweet and salty snacks, candy, and beverages for you to enjoy during the show.
